It’s quite a simple technique but when you put the time into using it effectively towards the end of your photoshop workflow, your photos will be all the better for it.
To summarise, the technique involves using the dodge burn tool to highlight lighter edges of objects, and the burn tool to darken darker edges.
This enhances the localised contrast in those objects to give more of a three dimensional effect to your landscape photos.
